National Hockey Festival
Nov. 22-25, 2007
Indio, Calif.

The desert is a good place to practice safe sun habits, and Sun Safe Play was in Indio/Palm Springs to remind athletes at the National Hockey Festival to play safe in then sun. The Melanoma International Foundation was on hand to provide screenings and fans gobbled up raffle items and handouts as part of the Thanksgiving festivities.

USA/Japan Series
Oct. 7-13, 2007
Univ. of Maryland, College Park

Whether it's pre-season in August or late-season in October,
field hockey players need to keep safe from the harmful affects
of the sun on the skin. During Octobers USA/Japan series in Maryland, fans were able to pick up helpful sun safe hints from the Melanoma International Foundation as well as goodies from USA Field Hockey including team posters and Sun Safe Play tees.


Futures National Championship/Regional Rumble

Summer at the beach can mean harmful exposure to the sun, and USA Field Hockey National Team members reminded athletes at the National Futures Championship and Regional Rumble to stay safe in the sun with the launch of the Sun Safe Play program. Dedicated to the memory of former teammate Maria Whitehead, the program promotes healthy sun safety practices and early dedication for the prevention of melanoma.
